Universal Salvation and Consensus in Medieval Islam

Dr Jon Hoover examines how two great medieval Islamic scholars looked at the issues involved in the question ‘can all human beings be saved by God?’ Is it a case that unbelievers shall spend eternity in Hell? Can there be paths to salvation apart from visible belonging to Islam.

Coming out of Hell

Islam holds a tradition that some people will come out of hell. Some may be destined to stay in the abode of hell, others will be temporarily passing through. Hell is probably a purgatory system which is temporary and will end.

The song by Chris de Burgh, "Don't Pay the Ferryman" is talking about an old man called Charon, a spirit of hell, who transports the souls across a river in hell. See: http://www.theoi.com/Khthonios/Kharon.html

In ancient mythology souls across this river to their next destination. The Egyptian religion also has the soul travelling on a boat as it reaches its destination.

Once in hell some people are lucky to escape. Both human souls and jinn (demons, evil spirits) will be in hell together being punished for their sins. Both can be redeemed and jinn will also enter Paradise alongside human souls.

Islam teaches people will come out of Islam and that God will intercede three times to get people out. A case is made by a Muslim that hell is not eternal but a temporary purgatory system. Hell in his opinion will end with every believer entering Paradise. See his article, Get the Hell (Eternal) out of Islam.

See also article: Islamic Universalism: Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyya’s Salafi Deliberations on the Duration of Hell-Fire by Jon Hoover

Here is the Islamic tradition of coming out of hell:

Narrated by al-Bukhaari (6192) and Muslim (184).

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) stated that they will change after they are brought forth from the Fire.

It was narrated from Jaabir (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said of the Jahannamiyyoon (those who had been in Hell) that they “would be brought forth from the Fire after having been in it. They will come out as if they are branches of sesame. Then they will go into one of the rivers of Paradise, where they will wash themselves, then they will emerge like sheets of paper.”

Narrated by Muslim (191).

Al-Nawawi (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: The word sesame refers to the well-known sesame from which sesame oil is extracted. Imam Abu’l-Sa’aadaat al-Mubaarak ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Abd al-Kareem al-Jazari, who is known as Ibn al-Atheer (may Allaah have mercy on him), said: What it means – and Allaah knows best – is that if the branches of sesame are gathered and left in the sun so that their seeds may be collected, they turn thin and black as if they have been burned, so these people are likened to them.

“then they will emerge like sheets of paper” They are likened to sheets of paper because they will be so white after they wash themselves and all the blackness that was on them is removed.

Sharh Muslim (3/52).

According to a report narrated by al-Bukhaari (6190):

It was narrated from Jaabir (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “They will emerge from the Fire through intercession as if they are small cucumbers.”

Al-Haafiz Ibn Hajar (may Allaah have mercy on him) said:

With regard to small cucumbers … What is meant is something that is white and small.

Note:

This likeness refers to how they will be after they grow. But when they first emerge from Hell they will be like charcoal as we shall see in the hadeeth below.

Fath al-Baari (11/429).

They will become like pearls, and Allaah will bestow His good pleasure upon them, and He will never be angry with them.

It was narrated from Abu Sa’eed al-Khudri that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Allaah will say: ‘The angels have interceded, the Prophets have interceded and there is no one left but the Most Merciful of those who show mercy.’ Then He will take a handful from Hell, and will bring out people who never did any good and who will have turned into charcoal. He will throw them into a river on the outskirts of Paradise that is called the River of Life, and they will emerge like seeds in the silt carried by a flood. … They will emerge like pearls with jewels around their necks, and the people of Paradise will recognize them. These are the ones ransomed by Allaah, whom Allaah admitted to Paradise with no good deed that they did or sent on ahead. Then He will say: ‘Enter Paradise, and whatever you see is yours.’ They will say: ‘Our Lord, You have given us what You have never given to anyone else in creation.’ He will say: ‘You will have something better than that with Me.’ They will say, ‘O Lord, what could be better than this?’ He will say, ‘My good pleasure, for I will never be angry with you again.’”

Narrated by al-Bukhaari (7002) and Muslim (183).

This is an important hadeeth in which the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) points out the great status of those who are brought forth from Hell, and the honours that their Lord will bestow upon them by His grace and bounty, which include:

(a) Being thrown in the River of Life, and growing anew.

(b) Emerging from the river like pearls with jewels around their necks

(c) Being given everything that they see in Paradise.

(d) Their thinking, because of the blessings and the ultimate joy they experience, that Allaah has honoured them with something that He has not bestowed upon anyone else.

(e) He will bestow His pleasure upon them and never be angry with them again.

The honour that Allaah will bestow upon these people who enter Paradise is confirmed in the following hadeeth:

It was narrated from ‘Abd-Allaah ibn Mas’ood that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “I know the last of the people of Hell to be brought forth, and the last of the people of Paradise to enter therein. It will be a man who will emerge crawling from Hell, and Allaah, may He be blessed and exalted, will say to him: ‘Go and enter Paradise.’ He will come to it and it will appear to him to be full. He will go back and say, ‘O Lord, I found it full.’ Allaah, may He be blessed and exalted, will say to him: ‘Go and enter Paradise.’ He will go to it and it will appear to him to be full. He will go back and say, ‘O Lord, I found it full.’ Allaah, may He be blessed and exalted, will say to him: ‘Go and enter Paradise, and you will have the equivalent of the whole world and ten times as much.’ He will say, ‘Are You mocking me – or laughing at me – when You are the Sovereign?’” He said: And I saw the Messenger of Allaah (S) smile so broadly that his molars appeared. And he said: “That will be the lowest of the people of Paradise in status.”

Narrated by al-Bukhaari (6202) and Muslim (186).

4 – They will be known as al-Jahannamiyyoon (the hellish ones) or “ ‘utaqa’ al-Jabbaar” (those ransomed by the Compeller, i.e., Allaah), then this name will be lifted from them.

The name al-Jahannamiyyoon is the plural of jahannami, i.e., hellish (of or pertaining to Hell), What is meant is that Allaah has ransomed them from Hell.

It was narrated from Anas ibn Maalik that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Some people will be brought forth from the Fire after its flames touch them (and change their colour), then they will be admitted to Paradise, and the people of Paradise will call them al-Jahannamiyyoon.”

Narrated by al-Bukhaari (6191).

Ahmad (12060) narrated from Anas: “… they will enter Paradise and the people of Paradise will say: These are al-Jahannamiyyoon.” But al-Jabbaar (the Compeller – Allaah) will say: ‘No, rather they are the ones ransomed by al-Jabbaar, may He be glorified and exalted.’”

Classed as saheeh by Ibn Mandah in al-Eemaan (2/847); Ibn Khuzaymah (2/710) and al-Albaani in Hukm Taarik al-Salaah (p. 33).

Ibn Hibbaan narrated from Abu Sa’eed al-Khudri: “… In Paradise they will be called al-Jahannamiyyoon, because of the blackness on their faces, and they will say: ‘Our Lord, take this name away from us.’ So He will command them to wash themselves in a river in Paradise and will take that away from them.”

Narrated and classed as saheeh by Ibn Hibbaan (16/457). It was also classed as saheeh by Shu’ayb al-Arna’oot.

It was narrated that Anas ibn Maalik said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “The most affluent of the people in this world, of those who will go to Hell, will be brought on the Day of Resurrection and dipped once in the Fire. Then it will be said: O son of Adam, did you ever see anything good? Did you ever have any pleasure? He will say: No, by Allaah, O Lord. Then the most destitute of the people in this world, of those who will enter Paradise, will be brought and dipped once in Paradise, and it will be said to him: O son of Adam, did you ever see anything bad? Did you ever experience any hardship? He will say: No, by Allaah, O Lord. I never saw anything bad and I never experienced any hardship.”

Narrated by Muslim (2807)

Another indication that one dip in the bliss of Paradise will take away all hardship that came before it, even the hardship of being punished in Hell, in addition to what we have mentioned of their forms being changed after they are thrown into the River of Life, is the report narrated by Muslim (2836) from Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) who said: “Whoever enters Paradise will enjoy bliss and will not be miserable, his clothes will not wear out and his youth will not fade.”

This blessing confirms that misery will be erased for the one who enters Paradise, and it is general in meaning and includes everyone who enters it, whether they entered Hell beforehand or not.

Al-Qaadi said: What this means is that Paradise is the abode of stability and blessing which will not change or be disturbed by any hardship or corruption. Quoted in Tuhfat al-Ahwadhi (7/194).

For all of these reasons, Allaah tells us about the condition of the people of Paradise when they enter it:

“And they will say: ‘All the praises and thanks be to Allaah Who has removed from us (all) grief. Verily, our Lord is indeed Oft‑Forgiving, Most Ready to appreciate (good deeds and to recompense).

35. Who, out of His Grace, has lodged us in a home that will last forever, where toil will touch us not nor weariness will touch us’”

[Faatir 35:34-35]

Shaykh al-Sa’di (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: i.e., the home of eternal abode, the home where one will want to stay forever, because of the many good things therein, and because of the ongoing delight and because there is nothing to disturb this pleasure.

That is “out of His Grace” towards us and His Bounty, not because of our deeds. Were it not for His Grace, we would not have reached the point we have reached.

“where toil will touch us not nor weariness will touch us” i.e., there will be no tiredness in body, heart or strength, or because of an abundance of pleasures. This indicates that Allaah will make their bodies physically perfect and will create all means of making their abode there one of continuous delight and pleasure, so that they will not be touched by toil or weariness, or by worry or sorrow.

The curse of the Sabbath Breaker

The Quran places a curse on people who not observe the Sabbath day. This curse applies to all people since the Sabbath began at creation. Adam and Eve, our first parents were required to keep the Sabbath.

The curse is one of turning the soul into a pig or monkey's.

Surah 2:65, “And indeed you knew those amongst you who transgressed in the manner of the Sabbath (ie Saturday). We said to them: “Be you monkeys, despised and rejected. So made this punishment an example to their own and to succeeding generations and a lesson to those who are the believers.”

One Jewish Kabbalist interprets this has a future re-incarnation. Those who refuse to obey the Sabbath have their souls turned into animals and come back down again. This is the curse placed on them. They live a life of an animal for refusing to obey God's command to rest on the Sabbath. Presumably they return back to their human soul form after this.

This may account why Muhammed abandoned the carrying out of the punishment now for Sabbath disobedience.

Surah 16:124, "The Sabbath was only prescribed for those who differed concerning it, and verily, your Lord will judge between them on the Day or Resurrection about that wherein they used to differ
.

One Quran correctly states the punishment for Sabbath breaking is only to be carried out on the Day of Resurrection for the "debelievers".

No doubt the Prophet Muhammed abrogated the punishment for Sabbath breaking whilst carrying out the punishments for other offences. It is somewhat of a curious thing that this punishment is not carried out by the Prophet Muhammed. He surely must have come across Jews and others not obeying the Sabbath.

Passover Evening 3rd April 2015

The Passover service begins on the evening of 3rd April 2015.

A Passover seder is eaten Friday night to include a lamb dish. Sephardic allow rice with that which is our preference. We usually have a seder meal telling the story of the Passover followed by a lamb meal.

This year there is no holy communion because we do not accept the blood of Jesus Christ. He did not die on the cross. Instead we learn from the Gospel of Barnabus it was Judas who hang on the cross in his place. The world celebrates the death of Judas believing him to be their Messiah.

Wine used in the Passover seder should ideally be non alcoholic.

The Hebrew calendar is followed until corrected by the Sanhedrin or Two Witnesses whichever comes first. We have no authority to adjust the calendar until then. So whether we believe it to be inaccurate we have to accept it until then.

Our Passover becomes a celebration not a memorial. We celebrate freedom from Egypt and it becomes essentially a Jewish affair in its operation.

Hebrew Sufis

As if many may think it crazy joining mainstream Islam and Judaism. And if that wasn't bad enough. There is a group called the Hebrew Sufi's who mix Sufi Islam with Judaism.

They maintain Sufi Islam has maintained the Israelite religion better than the other branches of Islam.

There are also the Turkish Donmehs who mix Judaism and Islam. As well as some Ukraine or Russian Islamic sects who maintain the Biblical Sabbath on Saturday following a mix of Judaism and Islam.

Pray Looking Downwards

There is a tradition within Christianity that we pray looking down with our heads bowed and closing our eyes.

The tradition of looking down during prayer has been debated within Judaism as well. There is a difference of opinion here. Rabbi Yose stated that eyes should not look up whilst in prayer and that they should look downwards with the head thinking of heaven. (source: Mysticism, Magic and Kabbalah)

But in Islam, the Prophet Muhammed made the decision always to look down during prayer. Believers were not to raise their eyes towards the heavens or sky during prayer. Later the early Jewish position of "prostration" would be restored for prayer.

From the Sunnah of Abu David Solomon, volume 1:

912. Jãbir bin Samurah said:

"Once the Messenger of Allah entered the Masjid and saw people praying with their hands pointing upwards to the skies. He said: 'People should stop raising their eyes to the skies" - Musad-dad (one of the narrators) said: "during prayer" — "or else their eyesight will not return to them." (Sahih)

913. Arias bin Malik narrated that the Messenger of Allah said: "Why do people raise their eyes in the prayers." Then he became even more strict in this regard and said, "They should stop doing so, or else their eyesight will be snatched away from them." (Sahih)

Islam borrowed other customs of the Jews.

From the Jewish Encyclopedia:

Mohammedan Forms.

But Islam, even more than Christianity, was influenced by the Jewish Forms of Adoration. At first Mohammed commanded that the faces of the faithful should, during prayer, be turned toward Jerusalem; and he only recalled this ordinance when he found that Jews were not to be captured by any such device. The very complicated postures adopted by Moslems at prayer (see Lane's pictures in "Modern Egyptians," i. 75) are probably borrowed from the Jews of Arabia, who, being far removed from Jewish lore, have preserved many archaic customs. These illustrations show all the Forms of Adoration above described as being existent among Jews, and especially that unusual form of sitting solemnly with the head upon the knees.

Islamic Prayer for Solar Eclipse

There was a solar eclipse during the time of the Prophet Muhammed. On this day his son, Abraham died. This was thought to be a bad omen or the eclipse being the cause of such a tragedy.

In the Islamic tradition, muslims are encouraged to go to the mosque during the time of the eclipse and pray for its duration. A special prayer is offered during the sighting of a solar eclipse. Judaism on the other hand does not regulate any prayer for the sighting of a solar eclipse.

We anglicise Islam and Judaism to allow the common person to understand the religion. Sadly so many people fail to grasp the religions because of being unfamiliar with Hebrew or Aramaic terms used. So we change and alter terms to its English Equivalent. So the Sunan Abu Dawud becomes The Sunnah of David Solomon. Obviously with a name like this he must have been a Jewish convert to the religion of the Prophet Muhammed.

From The Sunan of David Solomon:

Chapter 33.. The Eclipse (Al- Kusuf) Prayer

1177. It was narrated by Isma'il

Ibn 'Ulayyah, from Ibn Juraij, from 'Atã', from 'Ubaid bin 'Umair, that he said: "Someone whom I trust to be truthful - ('Ata' said) I presumed he meant 'Aishah - narrated to me: 'There was a solar eclipse during the time of the Prophet so the Prophet ; stood in prayer for a long time leading the people. Then he would go into Ruku', then stand, then go into Rukü', then stand, then go into Rukü', praying two Rak'ahs. In each Rak'ah, there would be three Ruku's; after the third one he would prostrate. (He stood for such a long time) that the men were about to faint due to the length that he stood, so much so that buckets of water would be poured over them. He would say "Allahu Akbar (Allah is the Most Great)" when going into Ruku': and when he stood up: "Sami' Allahu liman hamidah (Allah has heard those who praise Him)." (He continued praying) until the sun was visible again, then he said: "Verily, the sun and the moon do not eclipse due to the death or life (birth) of anyone, but these two (eclipses) are of the signs of Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, by which He frightens His servants. So when they are eclipsed, hasten to the Salat." (Sahih)."

The solar eclipse is a time for congregational prayer. Although it does not signify the birth and death of anyone prominent in the world it does signify a time of fear.

Judaism teaches the sighting of a solar eclipse is a bad omen on the Jewish people.

From Chabad, A Blessing For a Lunar Eclipse?:

The Talmud tells us that a solar eclipse is a bad omen for the entire world, which runs according to the solar calendar, and a lunar eclipse is considered a bad sign for the Jewish nation, who calculate the duration of months according to the cycles of the moon.1 Thus the Lubavitcher Rebbe, of righteous memory, points out that eclipses should be opportunities to increase in prayer and introspection—as opposed to prompting joyous blessings.2 In fact, there are those who have the custom to fast after seeing a lunar eclipse, because it is a sign that we really could and should be doing better.

Judaism teaches it should be an opportunity to increase in prayer, fast and to focus on obeying God's laws. The solar eclipse if thought to be a bad omen could certainly be an opportunity of "fear" which God instills in his people and the world.

The Real Prophet Muhammed

The real Prophet Muhammed is seldom revealed in the religious institutions or in the media. People believe the exact opposite of what the truth actually is. We have a Prophet given to us by a people who have turned him into their own image. Today the churches do the same to Jesus Christ.

Few delve into the Islamic literature to find the true Prophet Muhammed. It is time we blew the dust off our books and begin to see what they really say.

1. Prophet Muhammed Wore Fringes or Tassels

The Prophet Muhammed wore fringes. These are the tassels spoken of in the Taurat or Torah. The fringes are four strings attached to the four corners of the garment.

Chapter 20. Regarding The Fringe (On Clothing) 4075. It was narrated that Jãbir bin Sulaim said: "I came to the - -- Prophet when he was sitting with his hands around his knees and he had put the fringe of his garment over his feet." (Da'if)

source: http://www.kalamullah.com/Books/Hadith/Sunan%20Abu%20Dawud%20Vol.%204%20-%203242-4350.pdf

The fringes are known by the Hebrews as the term for "tassels". They are commanded in the Taurat (Torah) for the people of Israel for all future generations. They were four strings blue in colour attached to the four corners of garments. Pray shawls were also used by the Hebrews which resembled the "abayah", a blanket worn by the Bedouins for the protection from the sun and rain which has black stripes at its ends.

The biblical command comes from Numbers 15:37-41:

"Speak to the children of Israel and bid them to affix fringes (tzitziot) to the corners of their garments... that you may look upon them and remember all the commandments of the Lord."

Jesus had a woman touched the hem of his garment (Matthew 9:20, Mark 5:25, Luke 8:43, Luke 8:44). This was his tassels or fringes.

The Prophet Muhammed claimed to have known about the Torah and Gospel. He confirmed both and so it wouldn't be unusual for him to adopt the religious practices of the Torah. All Prophets of God must confirm the Torah (Isaiah 8:14).

2. Prophet Muhammed Read The Stories of Israel

A far cry from Islam today who have banned the Bible in places around the world. Handing out a Bible at a local mosque could get a person arrested but most importantly seems to cause such great offence. Yet this was not the attitude of the Prophet Muhammed, he was schooled in the Taurat and Injeel (Torah and Gospel). Yet many of his followers could not list one book of the scriptures.

From the book of Knowledge, Hadith from David Solomon:

Chapter 11. Narrating From The Children Of Israel

3662. It was narrated that Abu : Hurairah said: "The Messenger of Allah said: 'Narrate from the Children of Israel, and there is no harm. (Hasan)

3663. It was narrated that 'Abdullah bin 'Amr said: "The Prophet of Allah used to narrate to us about the Children of Israel until morning came, and nothing would interrupt him except the obligatory prayer." (Da'iJ)

The stories of Israel contained in their sacred writings known as the Torah, and Prophets were read by the Prophet Muhammed and he also knew about a book called The Pages of Abraham. The early followers of Muhammed had more knowledge of the Torah, and Gospel than many adherents today. Muhammed had a respect for all the literature coming from God. He was not a Quran only Muslim.

3. Prophet Muhammed Judged According to the Torah

The Prophet Muhammed used the Torah to judge the punishment for committing adultery.

From Sunnah Abu David Solomon, book 5:

4450. It was narrated that AbU Hurairah - this is the Hadith of Ma'mar and it is more complete - said: "A Jewish man and woman committed Zinã, and (the Jews) said to one another: 'Let us go to this Prophet, for he is a Prophet who was sent to make things easy. If he issues a ruling that is less than stoning, we will accept it and plead on that basis before Allah, and say that it was a ruling from one of Your Prophets.' So they came to the Prophet , while he was sitting in the Masjid with his Companions, and said: '0 Abul-Qasim, what do you think about a man and woman who commit Zina?' He did not speak a word until he came to their school, and stood at the door, then he said: 'I adjure you by Allah Who revealed the Torah to Musa, what do you find in the Torah about the one who commits Zinã, if he is married?' They said: 'His face is to be blackened and he is to be paraded and flogged.' - Paraded means that the two adulterers were to be seated back to back on a donkey and taken around. -

A young man among them remained silent, and when the Prophet saw that he was silent he adjured him emphatically. He said: 'By Allah, as you have adjured us, we find stoning in the Torah.' The Prophet said: 'When did you begin to take the command of Allah lightly?' He said: 'A relative of one of our kings committed Zinã, so the ruling of stoning was waived in his case. Then a man from a common family committed Zinã and they wanted to stone him, but his people intervened and said: "Our companion will not be stoned until you bring your companion and stone him." So they reached a compromise concerning this punishment.' The Prophet said: 'I will judge according to the Torah.' And he ordered that they be stoned."

Az-Zuhri said: "We heard that this Verse was revealed concerning them: "Verily, We did send down the Torah, therein was guidance and light, by which the Prophets, who submitted themselves to Allah's Will, judged for the Jews". And the Prophet was one of them." (Daif)

The real Prophet Muhammed was a man who claimed to follow the same God has the people of Israel. There was no contradiction in reading the scriptures, the stories, and extra biblical literature. Our goal is to find the truth. The Quran helps our understanding on the existing literature.

Music is Haram or is it The Drum?

Many of us have met muslims on the internet who echo the phrase, "music is haram brothers, sisters" castigating others who are enjoying a piece of music. But is it music or the basic drum, an instrument much debated in Judaism.

One Islamic Hadith which seemingly is used to throw out musical melodies is:

3685. It was narrated from 'Abdullãh bin 'Amr that the Prophet of Allah forbade Khamr, gambling, A1-Kübaht1' and Ghubaira ,[21 and said: "All intoxicants are Harãm."

The context of these hadiths is showing alcohol was considered non kosher or haram, with many drinking before prayer time and thus approaching God in a state of drunkenness.

3672. It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbas said: "(The Verses) 0 you who believe! Approach not Salat (the prayer) while you are intoxicated"'

Debates went on and finally it was settled that alcohol was not permitted. Islam's opposition to alcohol follows the Jewish Essene tradition where they are also strict on ritual purity laws often immersing themselves in water(ritual bath) many times a day. In any case this hadith says that Al-Kübah, which is a musical drum, is forbidden. This has made many to think music was banned because this humble drum was not allowed to be used. Is it just the drum or music in general?

The drum was also a contention within Judaism. Believe it or not. It is likely this is one of the reasons why the drum ban was carried on within Islam.

From the article, Renewing Ecstatic Spirituality to the Beat of a Drum

Kehilat Hadar does not use drums in its services, Kaunfer said, not for spiritual reasons but for legal ones: There is a dispute among rabbinic authorities as to whether drums are “tunable instruments,” which may not be played on the Sabbath.

The question about drumming echoes a much older Jewish debate: whether prayer or study is the primary means to serve the Divine. This debate raged throughout the Talmud and medieval Judaism, but reached a fever pitch at the turn of the 19th century when it divided the ecstatic, prayer-oriented Hasidim and their opponents, the scholastic, study-oriented Mitnagdim. Though America’s Conservative movement is, historically, a descendant of the German Reform movement, it shares with the Mitnagdim a deep suspicion of the drumming, music and singing that are still commonplace in Hasidic (and neo-Hasidic) circles. For them, as for Schorsch, the “rhythmic beat of the drum” led to both a denigration of the more refined arts of scholarship and to an unseemly, undignified religious enthusiasm.

Certainly, within the Jewish tradition, there is ample support for each side — sometimes from the same source. For example, Maimonides, in the Mishneh Torah, writes that “[p]rophecy does not come from sadness or sloth, but from joy. Therefore the prophets had before them harp, drum, flute, and lyre so they could seek prophecy.” Yet Maimonides also praises the rational efforts of the philosophers, which requires not prophetic joy but intellectual refinement.

The Mishnah carries on the prohibition of wedding drums. Israel after escaping from the Egyptians sang the song of Moses. Miriam was dancing and singing using a drum.

The drum may have been forbidden during prayer time as this was the context of many of the preceding hadiths. Not necessarily a blanket ban of using the instrument which has formed part of much of Israel's heritage.

Sleeping Posture in Islam and Judaism

Islam and Judaism agree that it is a transgression to sleep on the stomach. Judaism adds further this transgression also covers lying on the back.

From Halachipedia:

...Kitzur Shulchan Aruch 71:2 writes that one shouldn't sleep alone in a room. Mishna Brurah 239:9 writes that one shouldn’t sleep alone at night alone and this includes even sleeping in a room alone. However, Shaar HaTziyun 239:17 writes that one may leave the door ajar if there are others in the house. Yalkut Yosef (Brachot pg 669, Sherit Yosef vol 3 pg 369) also holds that it’s forbidden but writes that if there’s no other option one should leave a light on in the room. Rav Mordechai Eliyahu (comments to Kitzur Shulchan Aruch 71:2) agrees.

... SA OC 63:1 and Even Haezer 23:3 says that it is prohibited to sleep on one's back, but leaves out the prohibition to sleep on one's stomach but Mishna Brurah 239:6 says that it is a severe prohibition to sleep on your back or stomach and one should sleep on his side. Shalmat Chaim 226 says that children should be taught this at the age of nine.

Jewish law, "753. Men should train themselves to only sleep on their side, and it is a serious transgression for men to sleep lying on one's back or stomach. Shulchan Aruch w/Mishnah Brurah 239:1 MB6, SA EH 23:3"

754. It is beneficial for one to first sleep on one's left side and then to switch to one's right side {because the liver is on the right side and it will lean on and warm the stomach, helping for food to digest. Then, one should turn to lie on the right side so that the digested food will more easily pass out of the stomach.} One should also not turn from side to side during the night. Kitzur Shulchan Aruch 71:5, Rambam Hilchos De'os 4 (source: Hilchos Krias Shema She'al Hamitah)

This strange law is carried over into Islam.

Hadith by David Solomon:

Chapter... Regarding a Man Lying On His Stomach

5040. It was narrated that Ya'ish bin Tii!ifah bin Qais A1-Ghifãri said: "My father was one of Ahab As-uffah. The Messenger of Allah said: 'Let us go to the house of 'Aishah.' So we went there, and he said: '0 'Aishah, feed us.' She brought some Jashishah 1' and we ate, then he said: '0 'Aishah, feed us.' She brought a small amount of Haisah, 21 the size of a pigeon, and we ate. Then he said: '0 'Aishah, give us to drink.' She brought a of milk, and we drank. Then he said: '0 'Aishah, give us to drink.' She brought a small cup and we drank. Then he said: 'If you wish, you may sleep here, or if you wish, you may go to the Masjid.' While I was lying on my stomach in the Masjid, due to a pain in my lungs, a man shook me with his foot and said: 'This is a way of lying that Allah hates.' I looked, and it was the Messenger of Allah.'

The Prophet Muhammed forbade sleeping on the stomach. This is a grave transgression according to the Mishnah. The Rabbi's say we must sleep on our left and also on our right side, but the right side being preferable. Islam agrees with sleeping on the right side.

5046. It was narrated from Mansur, who narrated from Sa'd bin 'Ubaidah, who said that Al-Bard' bin 'Azib narrated: The Messenger of Allah said to me: "When you go to your bed, perform Wudü' as for prayer, then lie down on your right side, and say...

The Messenger of Allah said to me: 'When you go to your bed in a state of purity, rest your head on your right hand," then he mentioned a similar report (as no. 5046). (Sahih)

"When one of you goes to his bed, let him dust off his bed with the inside of his lower garment, for he does not know what came onto it after him. Then let him lie down on his right side, and say ..."

One of the reasons to avoid sleeping on the back is to avoid erections according to Jewish halacha.

Halacha 19

It is forbidden for a person to intentionally cause himself to have an erection or to bring himself to [sexual] thoughts. If a [sexual] thought comes to his mind, he should divert his heart from profligate and destructive matters to the words of Torah53 which are "a beloved hind, arousing favor."54 For this reason, it is forbidden for a person to sleep on his back with his face upward,55 Instead, he should turn to the side slightly so that he will not develop an erection. (source: Chabad)

Judaism clarifies why it is not permissible to sleep on the stomach. It is a concern for "seminal" discharges.

From Sleep in Halacha by Aryeh Lebowitz

The gemara (Berachos 13b) suggests that a person should not sleep in a ", פרקד " position. This is generally understood to include either lying on one’s back (due to a concern that he will place himself in an embarrassing position), or lying on one’s stomach (due to a concern that he will have a seminal emission), or both.8

Medical science does not advocate sleeping on the stomach either due to the strain put on the spine and the twisting of the neck that occurs during sleep. It looks like there is more than one reason not to sleep on your stomach.

Prophet Muhammed and his Tassels

The Prophet Muhammed wore tassels or a prayer shawl which contained tassels. This is recorded in the hadith by David Solomon.

Chapter 20. Regarding The Fringe (On Clothing)

The Prophet Muhammed claimed to have known about the Torah and Gospel. He confirmed both and so it wouldn't be unusual for him to adopt the religious practices of the Torah. All Prophets of God must confirm the Torah (Isaiah 8:14).

The practice of tassel wearing has fallen away in our age because our garments are no longer created with four corners. Many religious people buy four cornered garments so that they can keep the commandment.

EUCACH Melanie Vritschan: NSA is remotely assassinating me as it did Dr. Rauni Kilde

EUCACH Melanie Vritschan: NSA is remotely assassinating her as it did Dr. Rauni Kilde. Dr Rauni Kilde whose videos have been featured on the blog was assassinated on the 8th February 2015 by the cancer weapon and maltreatment in hospital she received. She openly spoke about the secret weapons of torture used against people who are singled out as "targeted individuals".

2-Leuren Moret: Russia aids humanity against Jesuitism- Tsar Alexander II & Putin (Preventing WWIII)

Leuren Moret, a scientist, discusses her research on the Jesuit order. Founded by a Jew, sworn to exterminate all heretics of Rome are the people in power pulling all the strings.

Ten per cent of Americans in the Congress are Jesuit. They have also infiltrated the CIA, the NSA and other government departments. They named a ship after a Jesuit, the USS Donald Cook, which they put in the black sea has a threat to Russia. This almost caused a diplomatic incident.

News your local church refuses to acknowledge. Instead an array of misinformation they write against Islam whilst refusing to see the enemy at the gates. How the blind lead the blind.

A Jew, A Kabbalist and a Convert to Islam

You would be forgiven for thinking it was the Church of God of the Prophet Muhammed.

We are similar to them but not the same. They are called donmehs. These are the remnants of the followers of Sabbatei Zevi living in Turkey.

We accept the broad principles of Sabbatei Zevi. We both accept the Jewish Kabbalah, Judaism and Islam. But do not think he was the messiah nor do we accept necessarily what his enemies write about him. They generally make similar remarks about the Prophet Muhammed and even Jesus doesn't escape.

Sabbataï Tsevi

Some English but mostly in French.

Spirit of Edom Rules in our Nations

Woe to those who make unjust laws, to those who issue oppressive decrees, to deprive the poor of their rights and withhold justice from the oppressed of my people... (Isaiah 10:1-2).

The Edomites did not die. Their spirit lives on in the hearts and minds of people who are now our rulers. They have this intense hatred of true Israel. They themselves are shut out of the "kingdom" preventing others from walking in.

The victims of the mind control programmes which they roll out across the nations know full well the hidden menace, the intense hatred and violence being done to them on a daily basis. Like ancient Esau, they wait for the frail, the elderly, the powerless and weak members of society. The CIA had a programme called Project EDOM which destroys people's memories implanting false memories into people. It is as if these people know their true spirit. True Israel is the white Protestant nations -- see Herbert W Armstrong and British Israelism. The Jews comprise of the nations of Benjamin, Levi and Judah forming the House of Judah.

"For the violence done to your brother Jacob, shame shall cover you, and you shall be cut off for ever. (Obadiah 1:10 RSV)"

The violence which goes on behind closed doors to people will alarm most people. One such story is featured in the following video. Although it goes on for 2 hours, near the end it lists the evil which happened to one man who attempted to help another "targeted individual". Stories which come from science fiction movies. Eventually after years of harassment, he was finally put in a nursing home.

Intro to Gang Stalking: Tactics and Personal Experiences

These sad stories remind me of the wicked Edomites, whose spirit pervades our nations. Their tactics, their hatred and evil often admired by the rich and powerful.

But you should not have gloated over the day of your brother in the day of his misfortune; you should not have rejoiced over the people of Judah in the day of their ruin; you should not have boasted in the day of distress. You should not have entered the gate of my people in the day of his calamity; you should not have gloated over his disaster in the day of his calamity; you should not have looted his goods in the day of his calamity. (Obadiah 1:12-13 RSV)

They rejoice in the harassment they dish out to people. Destroying true Israel believing as if God has fallen asleep on the throne. Believing his children can be tortured, harassed and killed with impunity, rejoicing in their blood like Esau of old. They pretend to worship God whilst they engage in unspeakable evil.

God cannot be mocked. If this system is righteous why is Jesus Christ coming back to destroy it?

Now that says it all. Read the book of Revelation, God wins in the end! Praise God.
